Pub Trivia

Tick tick tick tick...the clock finally wound down, and I bolted from City Hall as fast as my feet could carry me. It had been a busy month at work, and my brain was about to short circuit. I was definitely ready for some down time.

I headed up the familiar stairs at Penny Lane Pub and staked out some seats, noting with pleasure that the room had yet to fill up with its usual cloud of smoke. Pulling up a stool, I shrugged out of my coat (alas - dry cleaned just a week earlier!) and ordered a pint of cider. A little bit of stress ebbed with each sip of tart, amber colored liquid, and looming deadlines slowly faded into the background of my thoughts.

The room began to fill up with motley crews of trivia lovers ready to compete in the weekly battle of wits. Clouds of secondhand smoke stung my eyes as I looked around the room to size up the competition. There were some serious competitors, but there were also teams I knew we'd romp. Yes, this was going to be a great start to the Thanksgiving holiday.
